Five Mzanzi Actors Destroyed by Drugs
Hey beautiful people, today we’re going to reveal five Mzanzi actors whose lives and careers were destroyed by drug addiction. Let’s dive into their stories.
1. Innocent Masuku
Innocent Masuku, better known as Boo, opened up in an interview with MG and Sol on the “Podcast and Chill” show. He shared how addiction cost him everything during his prime in the entertainment industry.
Known for his memorable roles on “Zone 14” as Maradona, “Kumkani” as Boo, and “Bua” on the BC drama series, Masuku once captivated audiences with his talent.
However, behind the scenes, he was privately fighting a battle that cost him his career, relationships, and financial security.
In the interview, Masuku revealed that his addiction cost him around R500,000 on drugs and led to an estimated R5 million loss in industry earnings. He recounted going 3 to 4 days without sleep while using cocaine and even passing out for 3 days.
2. SK Khoza
Reality TV star SK Khoza was accused of drug use by his baby mama, Go, in an interview with G Lamiez on the “Point of View” podcast. Go alleged that she has a video of SK Khoza doing drugs in the bathroom and claimed that he introduced her to cocaine.
She challenged SK Khoza to come out and accuse her of lying and threatened to expose him. However, she said she’s only protecting him for the sake of their child.
SK Khoza addressed the drug abuse claims, but a video of him threatening to beat up a man went viral, making things worse for him and proving Go’s claims true.
Speaking to a local businessman, T Timba, on his podcast on Instagram Live, SK Khoza claimed his behavior came as a result of being in a dark place and alluded to being drugged.
3. C Maaroh
A video of once-renowned South African actress C Maaroh trended on social media, where she shared how she lost everything.
Maaroh, whose real name is Cinda, was once the ex-girlfriend of the late South African artist Brenda Fassie. At the height of her career, Maaroh said she used to earn R52,000 in two weeks but was not happy or fulfilled.
The video was taken by a fan who recognized the actress on the streets of Yeoville. When asked if she minded being recorded, she said it did not matter and that the camera always finds her.
She claimed that the wealth she had at the time was the reason a family was killed, and so she prayed to God to take everything from her. Those who know her claim that her downfall was due to drug abuse.
4. Mthokozisi Yende (Mt)
Rapper Mt appeared in the SABC2 soap opera “Muvhango” in 2016, playing the role of Mei, the heat maker. Mt once admitted to taking drugs in response to an article published by the Sunday World.
The online article, with the headline “Mt’s Drug Edit and He Abused Me,” revealed that Mt’s wife, Nicole, gave a statement to the police following a GBV case opened against him.
Upon reading the article, the multi-award-winning rapper responded with a tweet in which he admitted to using drugs.
He said, “Bom sh wake up who does not know I smoke? I used to SI M.” Mt has also been regularly seen by his fans smoking cannabis on his Instagram live sessions.
5. Bongani Fassie
During an interview on BET’s “Behind the Story,” musician Bongani Fassie said he hated drugs despite seeing his late mother, Brenda Fassie, take drugs.
However, he revealed that he later became a drug user after his mother’s death. Bongani said his mother’s death made him consider drug intake, and he used the money he got from his mom’s estate on alcohol, drugs, and fancy clothes.
The most shocking revelation he made was that he spent R million on drugs and used to stay in an apartment that cost R70,000 a month.
He would spend R150,000 in a club in one day. Recently, he received over R400,000 in royalty payments from Silocho, which was meant to tie up loose ends, but the money was blown in just two months through countless parties. He is now in debt and struggling to pay his kids’ school fees.
Conclusion
These stories highlight the devastating impact of drug addiction on the lives and careers of these Mzanzi actors.
