Following the passing of Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, the founder of the prestigious Crown Gospel Music Awards, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule has been named the new executive producer of the event.
This transition marks a pivotal moment for the awards, ensuring that the legacy of Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule will continue to shine in the realm of South African gospel music.
In a recent media briefing, Bishop Nkambule reaffirmed his commitment to preserving the high standards set by his late wife.
“Our aim is to uphold and extend the exemplary standards Zanele established.
Her influence on the Crown Gospel Music Awards was profound, and we are dedicated to advancing her vision while honoring her remarkable contributions,” Bishop Nkambule stated.
Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule’s death in August 2024, after a long struggle with lung cancer, cast uncertainty over the future of the awards she so passionately developed.
Bishop Nkambule has since reassured the public that the event will proceed as planned, maintaining its esteemed reputation.
The 17th edition of the Crown Gospel Music Awards is slated for Sunday, 24 November 2024, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng.
The nomination process is currently open and will close on Thursday, 10 October 2024.
Bishop Nkambule has promised to uphold the high standards set by his late wife, ensuring the awards remain a premier celebration of gospel music in South Africa.
Bishop Nkambule also emphasized that Zanele will remain an integral part of the awards’ history. “Zanele will always be remembered as the lifetime president of the Crown Gospel Music Awards.
Her legacy will continue to inspire as long as the awards team remains true to her vision. This year’s ceremony will be a tribute to her lasting impact,” he affirmed.
Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, renowned for her role as a presenter on Ukhozi FM, left a significant void in the gospel music community with her passing.
Her legacy is defined by her unwavering passion for gospel music and her dedication to fostering talent within the industry.
The Crown Gospel Music Awards have long been a cornerstone for celebrating gospel music and recognizing the achievements of South African artists.
With Bishop Nkambule now leading the way, the awards are set to continue their tradition of excellence, honoring the profound contributions of Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule and her influential role in the industry.
