Beloved South African music legend Doc Shebeleza dies at 51

In a heartbreaking announcement on Thursday morning, family spokesperson Shakes Mavundla confirmed the death of South African music icon Victor Bogopane, popularly known as Doc Shebeleza. The renowned artist, known for his contributions to the music industry, died at home.
Mavundla, speaking to News24, provided a few details on Shebeleza’s condition. “Victor Bogopane died at 10:30 this morning at home,” he said.
He explained that the legendary musician had visited his family earlier this morning before planning to return for a second operation on Monday.
The spokesperson did not provide specifics about the cause of death but confirmed that Shebeleza had been undergoing medical treatment.
“He was going back on Monday in preparation for his second operation. He is survived by his mother, brother, sister and nine children,” Mavundla said.
In the wake of his passing, Mavundla urged fans and the public to stay tuned for funeral arrangements.
“We will release all relevant information regarding the funeral and related details through our social media channels,” Mavundla said.
Doc Shebeleza is survived by nine children, six boys and three girls. He leaves behind a legacy of music that has resonated with generations of South Africans. The family has assured fans that updates on funeral arrangements will be communicated promptly.
